Viney, Robert William
HistoryRobert Viney studied at the South Australian School of Mines and Industries in the early 1930s. He became a Registered Architect in South Australia in 1940 and an Associate member of the South Australian Institute of Architects in 1946. He worked for the War Service Homes Division. Following World War Two, through the War Service Homes Division of the Department of Works and Housing, returned servicemen were able to apply for government assistance to finance approved plans and specifications for houses. These were usually conventional in style and either designed by the War Service Homes Division or by private architects. War Service Homes were built in large numbers in suburbs such as Plympton, Blair Athol and Glenelg North.
