Paxton Square Cottages, Burra
DescriptionContains ozalid and measured drawings of the historic cottages at Truro Street, Burra in South Australia's mid north which are known as the Paxton Square Cottages. These cottages are historically important because of their connection with the colonial Burra Copper Mines which were instrumental in helping South Australia become financially secure as a colony and in the foundation of several large fortunes for Adelaide's leading families. Built in a square, the cottages are a typical example of cottage architecture built for the common worker during the 1850’s. They are now a heritage item and are restored to their original condition. The architects responsible for the drawings are, Berry, Polomka, Riches and Gilbert and were drawn up during 1984. For further ozalids on the same subject see Series 140. Includes 6 SubSeries.
