The plans reflect a period of growth and consolidation for the railway system of South Australia when employees were given accommodation for themselves and their families as part of their conditions of employment. Some material is undated but dates given cover the period 1880-1924. All the material was photographed from original material.

This series was donated by Dr Roderick J Lawrence, Ecole Polytecenique, Lausanne, Switzerland in 1986. Dr Lawrence was engaged in research of South Australian housing as a Research Fellow working with D.L. Johnson at Flinders University. |
