Queen Victoria Maternity Home
DescriptionOriginally called The Queen's Home, the hospital was built at Victoria Avenue, Rose Park, S.A. to meet a need for a maternity hospital where single mothers and poorer mothers could have their babies in safety with the latest technology to help them and their babies. Lady Tennyson, wife of the then Governor of South Australia, headed the committee that raised the funding for the hospital. Later the name of the hospital was altered to the Queen Victoria Nursing Home, then the Queen Victoria Maternity Hospital, and then the Queen Victoria Hospital. Contains drawings of stairs, bathroom, footings, floor slab, fuel store, duct C and duct D.
